 SinusLeistungsSteller - Ethalon18 12.10.2007

Thomas Kalle´s ETHALON18

Thomas Kalle is a man of the first hour regarding the SinusLeistungsSteller! We first met him in 2004 during a exhibition, were he himself was a exhibitor, for his self(!) developed and production ready rotor mechanics in the highend modelbuilder scene.
Because he still searched for a electric-drive for his big models with a rotor diameter of 1,80m (and more!), it quickly became clear, that our SLS will come into play. In fact Thomas resides close to us and being himself also a model heli-pilot, made him the ideal test pilot. So he has the honor, to be the first model builder in general, to fly his model with the SLS! But for that, it took a whole year development for the SLS, that existed only as a rough concept on the paper before ...

at numerous meetings in the office we improved step by step the tuning and the SLS software. We first improved without then with rotor blades, the startup behaviour and the speed control ... till to the max. RPM, which first was achieved in September 2005 in the emptied office. But to take off and fly, Thomas rather wanted to go out to the meadow ;-)

Following a few videos of test flights. These were performed to check how precise the speed control performes during load changes. This is well visible on the seemingly not moving main- or tail rotor. The target RPM, was adjusted during the process to the frame rate of the camera, whereby stroboscopic effects occured.
